Affiliate disclosure

Catacombe di San Callisto takes part in the GetYourGuide affiliate programme. If you book a tour through a link or a booking widget on this site, I may earn a small commission. You pay the same price you would pay going to GetYourGuide directly.

What that means in practice

The booking widgets and the tour links on this site go to GetYourGuide, a licensed online travel agency. If you book after using one, GetYourGuide pays me a percentage of what you paid them. There is no markup on your side, no separate fee, and nothing added at checkout. Links to the catacombs’ own site and to their authorised ticket vendor earn me nothing at all, and I use them wherever they are the better answer for a reader.

Whether it changes what I write

Judge that against the site rather than against a promise. The page I point most readers at is the cost page, which opens by explaining that you can walk up to the gate, pay the admission price and skip every product I earn from. The cheapest listing here is the one I recommend most often. Two of my six tour reviews argue against paying more than the baseline, and the review of the most expensive listing on the site says plainly that four ratings are not evidence of anything. None of that is how you maximise a commission.

What the commission does pay for is the time to check the operators’ claims against the custodians’ published rules instead of copying listing text, which is the only reason the comparison is worth reading.
